I had given up on this whole LJ thing, but here I go again.. at least for a little while.

So i leave for Seville,Spain on friday! I'll be there for 2 whole months and I guess having an active LJ account would help with the documentation of my travels... and update those who love me and miss me (basically Claudia Murray). I made a new account though, in honor of my fellow brothers and sisters in Spain: Learning2lisp

Expect photos, daily updates, and rants about how fantastic/terrifying it is abroad.

I'm scared. The end.

I should probably be writing my paper that is due today at 4pm, but instead LJ it is!

So, for those of you who do not know, I became a citizen of the United States of America on tuesday, August 8th, 2006.
I wasn't emotional, partially because I was with my father and everything he does is funny, and because I think a little itty-bit of me didn't want to do it.

But here's how it went:

They gave us a little Amercan flag, which my father refused to take because he said his Naturalization Certificate was enough and he didn't want to look like "un baboso". I took three.  There were 3,887 people being naturalized representing 96 countries.  2,002 where cuban.
The only time that I got tingles was when I turned around and an elderly woman from Ireland refused to stay in her wheelchair while the rest of us took the oath standing.  She stood up with the help of an old man from Haiti, both strangers but after the 2 minute oath and promise, both american.  They cried.  I think together they were about 180 years old... they were sweet.

With the "I'm Proud To Be An American..." song in the background, we denounced former patrionage and became citizens of U.S.  It was pretty corny, but nice.

I filled out my voters registration card on the car ride home.

3.  Get my car checked (oil change, tire rotation, interior cleaning)

5.  Tan
6. Get hair did.

Yeah, I only got 20 hours to get ALL of this done!

So, I'm doing laundry right... and my roomate's shit is still in the dryer, so I take it out and leave it on top of the washing machine, which is fine, but I don't know what possessed me to look at her size. I don't know nor do I usually care about people's sizes, but maybe it was because I wasn't sure if what I was taking out were shorts or underwear, but she's a zero. (obviously they were shorts, right?)  Yeah, as in 1-1 =.  Sure, I've seen clothing at the store that is a size 0... but I've never in my life held it in my hands... EVER!

Needless to say, I felt like a fat ass (aside from the fact that my ass is bigger than most).

Catching up
03:41pm 12/07/2006

mood: busy
Missing one or two days of class during summer school feels like I missing weeks upon of weeks of shit.  I'm trying my best to catch up by friday, and by the looks of it I'll be in Miami this weekend for BOOZA-PALOOZA 06.  I'm not as excited as I should be, honestly, It's kind of stressing me out, but I need to finish grading papers, filing, writing a paper of my own (due monday), and catch up on philosophy reading for my quiz on friday and then ride a bus for 6 hours.    I really hope it is worth it (it was last year, I had a pretty good time I must say).

I feel disoriented.  Today is not monday, it's not tuesday, but I can't seem to remember what day it is...wednesday comes next, right?

I have 2 full days to get my shit together.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot.  Tomorrow is my interview to petition for withdrawal of a semester due to medicinal consent. I'm kind of nervous, but we'll see... it can't be more stressful than my CITIZENSHIP interview!

TaTa for now...

For those of you who don't know, I'm taking my citizenship exam on tuesday and I must say that studying with my father is the funniest thing I have ever done.

This is how it goes:

Me:  What did the Emancipation Proclamation do?
Dad:  No se who is Emancipashon
Me:  LMAO. It freed the slaves, dad... that's all you gotta know.
Dad: No. No. No.
Me:  yeah, aqui tengo el papel that says so
Dad:  ... y que carajo did Martin Luther King do?
Me: LMAO. He was a civil rights leader
Dad:  ... so, he didnt do ni mierda!
Me:  i guess not (I was crying due to all the laughter)
Dad:  We should a national holiday for este tipo,  Emancipashon!

party ideas?
11:54am 04/07/2006

My birthday is Friday, July 28th.  My party is Saturday, July 29th.  EVERYONE I KNOW IS INVITED TO MY BIRTHDAY PAR-TAY!

The theme is yet to be chosen, but I would like suggestions.  My favorite one so far is an "American/White" Party, in order to celebrate my citizenship also, and since Independence day falls on the same month... it makes sense.  Everyone would have to come dressed appropriately... hick and hillbilly outfits are accepted... almost even required!

Another suggestion was a 'Mexican' party in order to give my former allegiance a proper fairwell (another amusing choice, even though I'm Nicaraguan).

Apartment 724 always hosts themed parties and my birthday will be no exceptiions... we'll see.
